About The former French Concession: the back story

The former French Concession, mostly in Xuhui and Huangpu, is Shanghai’s leafiest quarter: plane-tree avenues, villas and lane houses, small shops and many of the restaurants in the MICHELIN guide.

Wukang Road

Start at Wukang Mansion on Huaihai Road and wander the plane-tree streets.

Eating

Jinxian Road has three Shanghainese Bib Gourmands side by side: Lan Xin, Chun and Mao Long.

Wukang Mansion was designed by László Hudec and completed in 1924.

Shopping

Huaihai Road has the big stores, Tianzifang the small ones.

Our advice: explore on foot, and stop for lunch on Jinxian Road.
